Individuality in the new ‘Wicked’ movie and celebrating individuality in our performing arts classes at LyriK Theatre Arts.

Drama

Hands in the air if you’re excited for the new Wicked movie. Have you got plans to go and see it? Or perhaps have you already seen it?

Did you know that Wicked is a musical that is currently being performed in the West End at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and has been running in London for over 18 years (the same age as our oldest LyriK students. At LyriK Theatre Arts we run performing arts for children aged 4 -18 based in North Harrow, London.)

Without giving any spoilers, Wicked is all about acceptance and celebrating everyone’s own individuality. This is something that LyriK is all about! We pride ourselves on creating safe, nurturing, encouraging and fun performing arts classes where every child can be their true authentic selves, enjoying singing, dance and drama in a class where everyone can be themselves and we can celebrate everyone’s differences as well as similarities! At LyriK Theatre Arts, we have ‘a theatre class for everyone!’

In Wicked, the story shows, how you can make friends with anyone, and you don’t have to be the same to do so. At LyriK, we encourage our students to make friends with everyone in the class, helping to grow their social and communication skills.

Similarly to the teamwork that Glinda and Elphaba demonstrate throughout the movie, performing arts is all about working together as a team and is something that we instil within our students. Teamwork makes a dreamwork!

Glinda also teaches Elphaba that having fun is super important and this is also something that we believe at LyriK Theatre Arts. Our teaching team are a super high energy group of industry professionals that work to provide fun and dynamic performing arts classes for our students. Having a fun, nurturing and encouraging environment, helps to build our students confidence, giving them the tools and skills to perform, sing, dance and act in front of an audience, just like Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked.

Has your child shown an interest in the new Wicked movie and are they interested in singing, dance and drama? Then why not book your free trial to join our LyriK family in January 2025, and get your child involved in fun, dynamic and confidence building performing arts classes?
