On Wednesday, 22nd January, LyriK Theatre Arts was alive with excitement as our students took part in an unforgettable professional Les Misérables industry workshop. Led by Archie Papworth, who famously played Gavroche in the 2012-2013 West End production at the Sondheim Theatre, the workshop was a true treat for all involved. From the first warm-up to the final note, it was a day packed with singing, acting, dancing, and, above all, fun!

The workshop kicked off with an introduction to the world of Les Misérables. Students dived into the plot, learning about the story’s emotional highs and dramatic twists. They even built the barricade, fully immersing themselves in the revolutionary spirit of the show. The highlight for many was learning the iconic character Gavroche’s solo song, “Little People.” Archie shared insider tips on how to perform the piece with confidence and character, inspiring the students with his personal connection to the role.
But the fun didn’t stop there! Our students got to play Les Mis-themed games, and learn to dance a graceful waltz. Each activity was designed not only to enhance their performance skills but also to build confidence and teamwork. For our chorus class, the excitement was so infectious they didn’t want to go home!
The workshop wasn’t just about learning – it was about creating lifelong memories. The students left feeling inspired, energised, and more passionate than ever about musical theatre. Workshops like these highlight how performing arts can transform young lives, giving them the tools to sing, act, and dance with pride.
At LyriK Theatre Arts, we have a theatre class for everyone! Whether it’s a love for musicals, drama, or simply having fun, we create opportunities that build confidence, nurture creativity, and make dreams come true.
