At LyriK Theatre Arts, we believe that exceptional training in the performing arts goes far beyond teaching technique. The performing arts require courage. To step onto a stage, speak lines out loud, sing with emotion, or move freely in front of others takes vulnerability. For children and young people especially, this can feel daunting. A nurturing and supportive environment allows students to feel safe enough to take risks, make mistakes, and grow. When students know they are supported by teachers who genuinely believe in them, confidence begins to develop naturally.

Our teachers at LyriK Theatre Arts are not only highly trained professionals; they are mentors, role models, and cheerleaders. They understand that every student’s journey is unique. Some arrive bursting with confidence, while others take time to find their voice. A caring teacher recognises these differences and adapts their approach, ensuring each student feels seen, valued, and encouraged. This August, from the 11th to the 15th, LyriK Theatre Arts ran our annual Summer School for SEND students aged 5–20, and what a fabulous week it was! Our 2025 Summer School was led by Principal Kim, Assistant Manager Sophie, and Performing Arts Assistant Logan, we spent five fun-filled days boosting confidence, making new friends, and exploring skills in drama, singing, and dance in high energy and nurturing environment.

Each day had a new theme, making every session exciting and engaging. From High School Musical and The Greatest Showman to Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, and a spectacular Performing Arts Summer Party, the fun was endless. Students also loved our talent shows, toilet roll fashion shows, catwalk challenges, and plenty of arts and crafts!

We were delighted to welcome many of our regular term-time students, along with lots of new smiley faces. It was brilliant to see every student shine in their own way.

Performing arts is beneficial for children and young people with SEND. It builds confidence, improves social and communication skills, and creates a safe space for everyone to explore their creativity.

Wednesday evening SEND classes for children and teens aged 4 – 18 (Verse 1 and Verse 2)
Adult SEND classes for ages 18+ (Verse 3)
Mainstream performing arts classes for children aged 6 – 18 (Chorus and Harmony)
